Visit the blog at http://mp3insider.cnet.com. by mp3insider@cnet.com (CNET.com) 9 Mar 2010 at 7:09pm This week, Donald and Jasmine discuss a monumental smackdown between the Beats Solo by Dr. Dre and the Bose On-Ear Headphones. OK, maybe not quite monumental, but it is certainly interesting. Of course, if you think we're going to reveal the outcome without making you suffer through all three judges' rantings on the matter, you're sorely mistaken. Also on tap for this week: Cowon trots out a new video player, V-Moda makes an appearance with some new iPhone-friendly headphones, and Real takes a huge, industry-changing beating from the MPAA-holes. Plus, what exactly do the MP3 Insiders think about keeping all our media in the cloud? Tune in to find out. loadUniversalPlayer({playerType: 'ces2010-small',lumiereQueryType: 'id',lumiereQueryValue: '50084687',useCurrentPageUrl: true,relatedVideo: false,preRollAd: true,hideLeftTab:true,wrapperFloat:'left'});

To understand why music sales and illegal downloaded music has fallen, take me for instance... I haven't purchased a CD in over 5 years now, although I did buy one digital album for my iPhone a while back. Every other song on the iPhone has been ripped from a CD that I purchased long ago. At the moment I have over 24 hours of music on the iPhone, which is more than I could listen to in a day, so I'm certainly not going to purchase more music for my iPhone. As to why CD sales are down, take a good look at how that industry treats its customers, and the RIAA in particular. That is the real reason why I'm not going to be buying any more CD's! And it's not online streaming services, like Pandora that play that much in our home, it's a mp3 radio station that I've paid to get a commercial free stream of Oldies (50's, 60's and early 70's) music, specifically, Sky.FM which has streams for practically any musical taste. Sincerely, Eric
Listen by mp3insider@cnet.com (CNET.com) 2 Mar 2010 at 7:48pm This week, Microsoft finally launches the long-awaited Facebook app for the Zune HD, but it's wrought with bugs and naturally, the MP3 Insiders have a few things to say about that. Also, Donald mulls over the depressing fact that people are downloading less music from both P2P and legitimate music stores, while Jasmine attempts to offer solace in the form of speculation that music has always been around and will continue to be. Finally, we take a look at a disappointing new Archos product and a cool new remote accessory for the iPod and iPhone, and compare both to the excellence that is Sonos. loadUniversalPlayer({playerType: 'ces2010-small',lumiereQueryType: 'id',lumiereQueryValue: '50084358',useCurrentPageUrl: true,relatedVideo: false,preRollAd: true,hideLeftTab:true,wrapperFloat:'left'});

Listen by mp3insider@cnet.com (CNET.com) 23 Feb 2010 at 5:23pm We know it's not Halloween, but we here at MP3 Insider figured you could use a little horror in your life anyway. OK, so maybe it's a slow news week in MP3 player land, but that just happens to be the perfect excuse to rant about all the terrible choices portable audio device manufacturers have made over the years. But first, Donald and Jasmine eviscerate the awful packaging ensconcing the equally questionable earbuds from newcomer Ankit--trust us, if you've never watched the video before, it's worth it this time. Then, take a trip with us down memory lane that starts with the worst-ever MP3 player reviewed by CNET, and ends with a pair of unfortunate sneakers that never made it to market. loadUniversalPlayer({playerType: 'ces2010-small',lumiereQueryType: 'id',lumiereQueryValue: '50084046',useCurrentPageUrl: true,relatedVideo: false,preRollAd: true,hideLeftTab:true,wrapperFloat:'left'});

Listen by mp3insider@cnet.com (CNET.com) 16 Feb 2010 at 8:16pm Donald and Jasmine continue the good fight of keeping the MP3 Insider and Dialed In podcasts as two separate beasts as they discuss the latest music news from MWC: Zune features are officially coming to mobile phones at the end of the year. Also, Jasmine battles depression over the nonexistence of the perfect MP3 player, and Donald weighs the value of iTunes video vs. cable as Apple teases price-cuts on TV shows. And the show wouldn't be complete without some headphone talk, specifically about the supermagnificent Klipsch Image X10i. But are they worth a cool 350 smackaroos? loadUniversalPlayer({playerType: 'ces2010-small',lumiereQueryType: 'id',lumiereQueryValue: '50083729',useCurrentPageUrl: true,relatedVideo: false,preRollAd: true,hideLeftTab:true,wrapperFloat:'left'});

Listener e-mail I contacted Zii. I asked them, 'do you have to pay for you calls and texts on the Zii EGG?' And they said 'the Zii EGG is not really a phone.' But in the pictures it has calling and texting. Does it? Do you have to pay for it? --annonymous
Listen by mp3insider@cnet.com (CNET.com) 2 Feb 2010 at 7:13pm With a week to get all the iPad jokes out of their system, Jasmine and Donald sit down to really figure out what's so special about Apple's controversial tablet. Zune phone rumors heat up in advance of the 2010 Mobile World Congress, and Jasmine shows off a pair of eco-friendly headphones. loadUniversalPlayer({playerType: 'ces2010-small',lumiereQueryType: 'id',lumiereQueryValue: '50083131',useCurrentPageUrl: true,relatedVideo: false,preRollAd: true,hideLeftTab:true,wrapperFloat:'left'});

Reader email Subject: Zune mess Hello, Please take a look into the MESS caused to Win7 users with the latest Zune software update: they removed the ability to define which Music (and other media) folders are monitored by the software and now we are all OBLIGATED to get ALL computer's music, photos and videos into the Zune soft..!!! (as it monitors Win7 Libraries) It's a real disaster for big collections (and most Zune owners are big music and media collections owners) http://forums.zune.net/570693/ShowPost.aspx cheers rq
